Deconstructed Immersion with Kerr Grabowski
Explore a different facet of screen printing on fabric—the unpredictable, the intuitive, the happy accident.
Explore the expressive edge of screen printing in this immersive, process-driven workshop focused on intuition, experimentation, and the beauty of the unexpected.
Deconstructed screen printing uses dried, thickened fiber reactive dyes applied to a screen and later reactivated with moisture, allowing color to release in surprising and often serendipitous ways. The results are layered, textural, and delightfully unpredictable—perfect for artists who enjoy discovery as much as outcome.
Participants will explore line, texture, and form through a range of approaches, including:
- Deconstructed screen printing
- Polychromatic printing
- Direct dye application
The screen will be used both intuitively and experimentally, as well as in a more traditional stencil-based manner. Emphasis is placed on personal exploration rather than replicable technique, encouraging each student to develop a visual language that feels authentic and alive.
Students can expect to leave with a body of work that reflects personal expression over technical perfection, embracing “happy accidents” as a powerful creative tool.
